Office Compatibility Pack für Dateiformate von Word, Excel und PowerPoint [Updated]
Mit dem Erscheinen von Office 2007 hatte Microsoft eine kostenlose Erweiterung für Office 2000, XP und 2003 zur Verfügung gestellt, mit deren Hilfe auch die älteren Anwendungen Word, Excel und PowerPoint 2000, 2002 und 2003 das neue Format öffnen und auch schreiben konnten. Auch Microsofts aktuelle Bürosuite Microsoft Office 2013 verwendet das neue auf XML basierende und offene Dateiformat, das effizienter und sicherer sein soll als die bisher von Excel, Word und PowerPoint verwendeten Formate.
Durch die Installation des Office Compatibility Pack für Dateiformate von Word, Excel und PowerPoint 2007, 2010 und 2013 zusammen mit Office XP oder 2003 können Anwender von älteren Microsoft Office Dateien in den Dateiformaten öffnen, bearbeiten und speichern, die ab Word, Excel und PowerPoint 2007 neu sind. Das Office Compatibility Pack für Dateiformate kann auch zusammen mit Word Viewer, Excel Viewer und PowerPoint Viewer verwendet werden, um Dateien anzuzeigen, die in neuen Formaten gespeichert sind.
