Holiday market in Old Town Square, Prague, Czech Republic
Every year, from late November to early January, Prague’s Old Town Square turns into a Christmas market. Food stalls offer traditional Czech holiday treats, merchants sell handmade items, and musicians play anywhere there’s room. The centerpiece of the market is the tree, usually harvested from the Krkonoše Mountains in the northern reaches of the Czech Republic. Imagine standing in the square, mulled wine in hand, taking in the spectacle of the Gothic spires surrounding the square, and joining fellow revelers as the tree lights up the night.
